How SolveWATERLOO uses public data
Open Data
SolveWATERLOO uses publicly available datasets from the City of Waterloo Open Data (ArcGIS Hub), licensed under the Waterloo Open Data User Licence. Source licences allow free use with attribution.
The infrastructure you see on the SolveWATERLOO map — parks, sidewalks, fire stations, and community facilities across the city — comes from these public datasets. We present this data in a way that helps residents explore their city and report issues when something needs attention.
What we do with it
We display city infrastructure data on an interactive map so residents can see what's around them and take action. Every asset is clickable. Every asset is reportable. Reports go directly to the city and your ward councillor.
We do not sell, redistribute, or commercially exploit any open data. We do not modify the source data.
Data accuracy
All data is imported as-is from the source. SolveWATERLOO does not guarantee the accuracy of open data published by the City of Waterloo or other providers. If you notice an error in infrastructure data, it should be reported to the original data publisher.
