About Martin Reid

On October 24, 2022, first-time electoral candidate Martin Reid was voted as Ward 9 Councillor in the City of Mississauga and the Region of Peel. A lifelong resident of Meadowvale, Martin has dedicated the last two decades and countless hours of volunteer service to Ward 9. He earned a Social Work degree from Waterloo University and a Masters of Divinity in Marriage and Family Counselling from Tyndale University. Martin previously worked as a Frontline Worker for Toronto Salvation Army and Housing Coordinator for The Dam youth centre. He served on Mayor Crombie's Black Caucus in 2020, advising on systemic barriers affecting Black communities. His mission centers on 'Support, Amplify and Connect.' Notable achievements include hosting 20,000 residents at Celebration Square on New Year's Eve 2023 and successfully sponsoring a motion for reduced transit fares (seniors $1/day, children 12 and under free). He is married to Alexandra since 2017 and has two sons and two stepchildren.
